We probably may not be able to bring any major changes to our surroundings but making little changes in our lives can definitely help us make a greener planet. For eg –
- Carpool to work
- Switch off your vehicle engine when waiting for someone or at the traffic lights
- Switch off lights and any electronic gadgets when not in use.
- If you see someone throwing the cigarette butt on the ground – educate and encourage them not to do so. These cigarette butts are non-biodegradable, which means they do not decompose and stay on earth for up to 20-25 years.
- Encourage Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
- Bring your own bags when you go shopping
- Plant more greens. discourage anyone from cutting down trees
- properly dispose of garbage
- Turn off taps and do not waste water
- Service your vehicle regularly to avoid any dangerous emissions
- Say NO to plastic containers. Use glass or steel instead
