When we adults think of fitness or a healthy lifestyle – we think and imagine it as following a boring diet, portion control or maybe working out tirelessly in the gym. It just seems so much work! In this post, I will tell you How Gymnastics for Your Kids’ Mind and Body is beneficial.

Gymnastics for Mind and Body

With kids, it comes naturally – for them remaining physically active comes by default! Whether that is playing in recess, running around the house, playing football in the park or just dancing to their favorite beats. Remaining active isn’t a problem – the problem is that we as parents are not able to provide them the right kind of stimulating environment and the lifestyle the children should be able to follow.

While looking for some activity classes for Agamveer and Baani, I came to know about The Little gym. Luckily, for me, one of their centers is located very near to our home. When I read more about it – I knew instantly that I had to explore and know more about it. As a parent, taking my children to a new activity class is always full of skepticism.

A Parent’s viewpoint on Gymnastics

The first thing that I really liked was how both, Agamveer and Baani, were made comfortable and warm in the new atmosphere. Baani, my little one, is a little shy, to begin with, strangers and so the mentors – let her adjust to her surroundings and take her own sweet time. The place is colorful and bright and instantly catches the attention with its aesthetic set up.

Agamveer and Baani did not take a lot of time to mingle with the mentors. The session was filled with a lot of physical activities. The peppy music and funny moments between kids and mentors help maintain interest. Both the kids had a blast while doing what they like the best – Having Fun!

It was a joy to see both my kids jumping, learning new acts, having fun – all while getting fit. The mentors are amiable and are thorough with their knowledge of gymnastics sessions. They are careful and meticulous in giving equal attention to all the children present in the class.

Also, what I really appreciate is how mentors are conscious of every child’s safety. Every child’s safety is the utmost priority in each class and proper care is undertaken.

I also observed that – demeanor of the complete staff at The Little Gym is extremely friendly and ensures that every child or parent, who walks through their front door feels welcome and at ease.

As a parent, I am completely convinced that gymnastics at the little gym, provides not only physical fitness to your children but also helps them develop holistically – which helps them grow socially and mentally too.

Still, need reasons to check out your nearest The Little Gym?

Did you know that India has the second-largest number of obese children in the world? With almost as close to 14.4 million children being overweight – this number is absolutely staggering and mind-boggling. Obesity in children around the world has doubled since 1980.

How can you help your child live a healthy lifestyle –?

  1. By ensuring they take a balanced, healthy diet every day
  2. By getting enough physical hours every day

One of the ways – you can contribute to your child’s healthy lifestyle is by enrolling them into The Little Gym.

What is The Little Gym?

The Little Gym is the world’s leading development and physical progress center for children ages 4 months to 12 years. Their programs are designed in such a manner that it uses movement-based learning and imaginative play to help build the self-confidence and skills needed at each stage of childhood.

An innovative educator, musician, and kinesiologist, Robin Wes imagined a development place where children could explore their physical development, while also growing socially, emotionally and intellectually. He opened the first The Little Gym in 1976 in Bellevue, Washington and infused those early classes with the same positive, non-competitive spirit that characterizes us today.

Forty years later, children in more than 400 locations worldwide experience the Serious Fun of The Little Gym.

Three Dimensional Learning

The Three-Dimensional Learning approach to skill development means that every class the little gym offers development in three all-inclusive dimensions; which are – Brain Boost, Get Moving and Citizen Kid.

What do these terms mean?

Get Moving – Developing flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination through varied physical activities

Brain Boost – Nurturing listening skills, concentration, and decision-making that benefits your child well beyond the gym

How does gymnastics aid the development of your child?

  • Increases Self Esteem – Gymnastics is a sport that helps a child to master self-control and ultimately lead to enhanced self-esteem. When a child is able to master a specific move and is able to show it in front of his friends or family – this helps in fighting stage freight as well.

  • It’s FUN! – In a class, kids get to work on their social skills by interacting with other children in the class and their mentors
  • It helps to create disciple – Self-control and discipline are both valuable life skills that every child should be taught, and this is what exactly your children will learn in their class.
  • Flexibility – When our bodies flexibility increase, the possibility of getting injured also decreases many fold. Flexibility can help your child with body posture as they grow back and help them develop strong backs.
